ONLINE OPEN HOUSE: Conversations With God

  • Portland New Church 302 Stevens Avenue Portland, ME, 04103 United States (map)

Guan Dojo (class of 2011) and Oggie Williams (class of 2014) converse about conversing...with God.

One of ChIME's gifts is the deep bonding that develops between students as they talk about their personal histories and experiences and beliefs. These conversations occur in classes, retreats, assignments, and outside of regular ChIME events. Sometimes it feels like we are diving into the interior of the soul. Many ChIME students express appreciation for an environment that encourages and invites honest conversation about the things that matter most to them.

Come join Guan Dojo and Oggie Williams as they talk to each other about how they each communicate with God. How do you experience "God?" Come join the conversation and feel free to ChIME in, if you like!

Guan: I have a hard time with the term God because I always think of Michelangelo painting in the Sistine Chapel of the Creation of Adam — the one where God is depicted as an old man with white hair and a long beard floating around in the sky. That's not how I experience "God." Sometimes I wish Michelangelo had never painted that image!

Oggie: I love talking to the old man with white hair and a long beard floating around in the sky! But the old man I talk to has a great sense of humor!

Dean Katie Payson will also be available to answer questions about the ChIME program or application process. All are welcome! Registration is required below.
