The public is invited to a free evening on modern mysticism at the Chaplaincy Institute of Maine (ChIME) on November 26 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The Revs. Guan DoJo, Corinne Martin and Cathy Grigsby will present. "Any authentic mystical opening brings us a sense of wonder, a freedom from time's fury and anxiety and a more marvelous universe and a far vaster identity than anything we could begin to intuit with our ordinary senses and consciousness," says author Andrew Harvey.
Starting from that premise, our panel invites participants to: “Come find out what and who a modern mystic is: it may be you. We will explore mystics of the past and present, in an evening with Rumi, Hildegarde von Bingen, Jesus, Thomas Merton, Teresa of Avila, Meister Eckhardt… and us. We'll explore questions such as: Who were the mystics? What is a mystic? What does the modern mystic look like? Act like? How does ChIME's curriculum support the modern mystic?” RSVP suggested but not required.
